PORTRAIT

I am a filmmaker specializing in animation and documentary, and I try to make my stories shoot straight to the heart. A lover of all arts to the point of madness, music, dance, and painting, I also love sports. Let’s say I am a woman of action with much creativity.

 

COMPETENCES

My main skills are communication and creativity. I analyze clearly what needs to be communicated and how to do it most positively. I easily build bridges between people. I am fascinated by using creativity for everything, from telling unique stories to inventing ways to solve problems, even in real life:)

 

To be a good leader, I must be in service to my team. To inspire them and help each person’s strength shine through. Only by orchestrating the best version of each individual will the masterpiece be born.

 

BIOGRAPHY

As a Director

 

“Matilda Rodanuma, a Singular Athlete” is my animation feature film which I am the original idea creative of, co-scriptwriter, and director. This film is supported by Motion Pictures Entertainment, and Mondo TV Studios. It has received the Screenplay Development Award for Animated Feature Film from the Colombian Ministry of Culture and the MIA Anima 2023 Mentorship Award. At the same time, I am working as a creative director of “Substellar” a documentary short film for the Canary Islands Astrophysical Institute. During this time, I´ve played drums, practiced pole dance, and done sports.

 

The first animation that I directed was: “Mocland a Super Space Adventure”, a 3D Animation feature film. After that, I directed the 3D animation series “Young Miscelánea, and “Evita Percances“, in which I worked on the characters and the universe’s creative concept, as well as in the direction of the show. It has been a successful animation series, sold to more than twelve countries. I’ve also created the character concepts for mobile games: “Doña Prudencia” and “Fortunata y Gastón” for PIZZEL 3D Studios in Seville. At B-WATER Studio of Tenerife Island, I directed the 3D animation short film “Fina y los Yomis” for Europa Park in German. During this time, I´ve learned to play the flamenco box drum and the flamenco dance.

 

As a Producer

 

To Granada KANDOR GRAPHICS Animation Studio and ANTONIO BANDERAS, I started to produce an animation feature film, “Justin and the Knights of the Valour”, as a production coordinator, after a year, I became a production supervisor. I also have worked for BLOW studio in Seville, for “Camp Baker” advertising as a production supervisor, and in Tenerife for to”Grisť” series as a production coordinator at MONDO-TV Studios, and as a creative producer for the animation feature film “Furry Tails” in TOMAVISIÓN Studios. During this era, I tried surfing and kitesurfing, which was exciting! It’s like dancing among the waves.

 

Flashback to my beginnings:

 

I was born in Seville, in the heart of an Andalusian flamenco-cultured family. One of the first memories I have is drawing “Don Quixote” and “Sancho Panza” whose design was on a metal tray that my mother had in the kitchen. I used to draw a lot.

 

I graduated in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Seville and fulfilled my dream of being selected by the International Film and TV School of San Antonio de Los Baños in Havana. There, I received a Master’s Degree in Creative Documentary Directing. At that time he rode his bicycle everywhere and played percussion.

 

I started professionally in the media as a photographer and editor of “Viapolis”, an online cultural agenda of  DIARIO  DE  SEVILLA newspaper, and later in the multimedia department of LZ PRODUCTIONS as a content manager. These first jobs made me feel part of the professional media. I received international awards for the direction of my documentaries, such as the FIPRESCI Award for the best documentary work, and the UNEAC Award for the best documentary direction with: “Fidel the Man with the little spoon” and “Poison”, “Earth Goddess“, “Carmen stayed in Havana” which made me trust the storyteller that I am. At this stage, I played the congas and danced salsa intensely in Havana.

 

I ran my own company TAILORED-MADE FILMS with which I work for different clients. With my company, I directed the documentary short film: “Mariem Hassan, The Voice of the Dessert“, part of the feature film “Tebraa: portraits of Saharawi Women“, winner of the Rosa del Desierto Award. I also produced and edited the short film “Rebusque” a Film Corner Award by the Cannes Film Festival for its international premiere, and I was the editor of the “Kontinuasom” documentary for UTOPI SOCIAL FILMS. Throughout those days, I played Brazilian percussion in Seville where I enjoyed my time with family and friends in my beautiful natal city.
